Recognised throughout the industry for its high performance, smooth operation and elegant design is The Oslo Lift & Slide Door. The Oslo Lift & Slide Door allows you to open up extra large areas of space and provides you with uninterrupted clear views when closed, bringing the daylight in whilst keeping the weather and intruders out. Due to its versatility the Oslo door has been widely used in schools, hospitals, care homes, visitors centrers, luxury houses and apartments and is available in timer and timber clad (timber with 15mm extruded aluminium cladding to exterior) .
A key feature has to be the way in which the sliding panel/s are operated. By turning the door handle 180 degrees the sliding sash is lifted by only a few milimeters to allow it to slide smoothly and effortlessly along the aluminium track. No matter what size the sliding panel the operation is unbelievably easy. With this mechanism the sliding panel can also be lowered at any point along its track to stop any unwanted movement.
APPEARANCE
You can choose any polyester powder coated RAL colour from our chart (over 200 colours) including dual colour (i.e White RAL 9016 internally & Grey RAL 9007 externally) In addition you can specify whether a matt, semi gloss or gloss level of paint finish is required. Alternatively if a stain finish is required you can pick from our Teknos stain chart. Door furniture comes in the standard colour of satin anodised silver SAA. Please ask about other options
PROFILE
Manufactured from slow grown nordic pine using the process of lamination. The timber frame is constructed from three and five separate pieces of timber which has been glued back together with opposing grains to achieve greater strength and durability for a life time guaranteed smooth operating sliding door. Even with this method of construction the profile offers a very reasonable measurement of 135mm front to back and offers very slim sight lines on elevation.
For the ultimate system the timber clad version uses the same timber frame construction as above with an added 15mm aluminium cladding to the exterior face for a maintanance free system.
TRACK OPTIONS
Available in a standard hardwood threshold and a reduced height wheelchair friendly threshold.
SECURITY
The Oslo Lift & Slide Door offers great security features as standard many of which are not visible or accessible from inside or outside. When the door is closed and the handle is operated into its locking position the sliding sash automatically drops onto 4 locking pins around the frame and cleverly uses its own weight as an added advantage. With this comes a cylinder lock internally which when engaged prevents the handle from being operated, making it impossible to slide the sash.
Many people opt for no handle or locking cylinder outside and only request a finger plate to allow easy operation of the sliding sash. This takes away any direct means of attempting to gain access through the sliding door and act as a brilliant deterrant to any potential intruders.
There is a secure ventilation position, and the door can also be lowered at any point along the track to prevent it from moving whilst open.
WEATHER SEALS
Often chosen for its excellent weather tight seal and reliability this Scandinavian sliding door is renown for keeping the weather out. Combining the same features it uses for security when locked the sliding panel engages with 4 locking pins around the frame, compressing the double weather seals for a guaranteed weather tight seal.
GLAZING
All glazing should be carried out in accordance with BS6262, the standard unit supplied with the Olsen Lift & Slide Door system is 28mm and externally glazed. Guidance will be provided should you be unclear on your requirements.
TRICKLE VENTS
Tickle vents can be incorporated within the head profile. Details can be provided.
DESIGN OPTIONS
Amongst many other options we can customise our sliding door systems with mid rails, mullions, plant on bars, dummy spacer grids and solid infill panels. We also offer matching fixed light frames which use the same timber profile as the sliding door for continuous sight lines.
