AS Combi (U = 1.4) - Outward Opening
The idea of an outward opening window was developed in Scandinavian countries for harsh climate conditions: in Denmark and in Norway such windows have been the main solution in building practice.

The construction of an outward opening window is designed to have excellent performance and functionality during different season through the year: in high humidity, in dry conditions, while it is cold or hot. Gaskets and insulated glazing units used in the design ensure air tightness and energy efficiency. Carefully chosen wood and the use of tested hardware prolong window's life span.

In addition to the traditional side hung opening type there are also projecting opening types within our product line to enable easy access for both sides of a window for cleaning purposes.  The outward opening double glazed window is named AS Combi Window. It is best described as a traditional window with double glazing, slim frames and internal moulded profile.

SIDE HUNG WINDOW
A window with traditional design. Stating from the frame height of 524 mm this window has a practical function to fix the casement by locking handle. Available as double casement french window (without mullion) and in case of need can be used as an evacuation opening.

The Side Hung window has the traditional style of an outward opening casement window which pivots from either the left or right hand side jamb. Like the Top Swing and Side Swing windows the Side Hung has a multi point locking espagnolette, a locking ventilation position and is supplied as standard with an automatic engaging child safety lock.  An advantage of the Side Hung is the option of fitting a Friction Brake, this will allow the sash to be held in any open position and is engaged simply by turning the handle which is located on the jamb of the sash. The friction brake is concealed when the window is closed and means there is no requirement for unsightly casement stays or catches (as used on most traditional UK manufactured windows). Please note the friction brake does not class as a secure ventilation position.

SIDE SWING WINDOW
Up to 1600mm high casements the Side Swing window has all of the excellent design and security features of the Top Swing and uses an identical hinge mechanism which allows the sash to turn through an arc of 180 degrees for easy cleaning.  Please refer to our Top Swing Window for more details.

TOP SWING WINDOW
One of the main advantages with the Top Swing window is the way in which the sash can rotate through an arc of 180 degrees without entering the internal room space.

The other immediate attraction to the Top Swing is its safety and security features. Located  on the inside of the frame but hidden when the window is closed is a small operating restricter which prevents the window from opening more than 100mm stopping the sash from swinging fully open or been affected by wind.  This same catch also doubles up as a safety feature, when the window is reversed 180 degrees into its cleaning position the catch is also used to lock the sash in place, leaving both hands free for cleaning.

When close the Top Swing is held securely in place with three security features. The centrally mounted hinges on either jamb , the pivoting nylon-coated slides at the top of the sash, and by a pair of espagnolette rods operated using a single handle at the bottom of the sash. Not only do the rods provide excellent security they can also be locked into a second position to allow secure overnight ventilation.

TOP HUNG WINDOW
The very common top hung window operates using the same mechanism as our side hung window.  This particular windows style is ideal for fire escape windows as it is capable of larger openable areas.

FIXED LIGHT WINDOW
The Fixed Light is designed to keep frame work to a minimum and to allow large amounts of sun light into a room.  Commonly used where it is not essential to have an opening window or ventilation the fixed light is the perfect cheaper alternative to an opening window.

To ensure sight lines to adjacent windows are aligned the fixed light can be provided with a number of design options including a dummy sash, transoms and mullions.  An advantage of the fixed light is its size and shape capabilities, raked, arched and triangular windows can all be supplied.
